We live in an exciting, dynamic, and frightening time. Humankind has been given the opportunity to demonstrate that we are wiser than we are smart. We’ve been clever enough to build societies that offer every type of creature comfort, so much so that we literally make ourselves ill with excess. Given a finite planet, will we be wise enough to build a society that is healthy and sustainable?
All of my adult life has been spent in the field of education. Now that I’ve retired from fulltime employment, my calling is to use the knowledge and skills I have to help others learn so that we have at least a shot at attaining the wisdom our civilization will require for a sustainable future. It’s an honor to be able to make a contribution, however small it may be.
On our small farm in southwest Wisconsin, my wife, Karen, and I keep grounded thorough the soul-enriching tasks of planting, nurturing, and harvesting. We’re blessed with family and community. Life is good.
